The keynote speaker session, Dr. Lindsay Masland, will be available via Aggiecast. Presentations are faculty-submitted, faculty-led, and focused on teaching innovations that have worked well right here at USU. USU Be Well and Registered Dietitian, Brooke Lister, present a lunch and learn on nutrition and mental health. From a young age, we are taught that proper nutrition helps us to feel our physical best. However, we’re not always told that our nutrition habits can significantly affect our mental health. A balanced diet helps us to feel more alert and improves concentration and attention span. In addition, having a good balance of foods can help reduce stress and depression. In this presentation, we will be talking about how diet can affect our mental health. You will also learn some tips to have a diet that supports mental health as well as certain foods that really help to support our brain. *Presentation will be available in person, virtually and will be recorded. It’s nearly time for Aggie football and the annual Utah Agricultural Products Barbecue, hosted by Utah State University’s College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (CASS). 烧烤开始时间是与通常的vs. James Madison football game kick-off time. The BBQ will get underway 3 hours prior to kick-off (time to be determined). The barbecue will feature Utah-grown beef, dairy products, pork, onion rings, salad, lamb, corn, apples, Creamies and more. The event is sponsored by Utah’s Own. A collaboration among participating commodity groups, companies, and CAAS, volunteers from commodity groups and the college prepare and serve the meal in an outdoor festival atmosphere where guests can try all sorts of delicious food. The event has become a beloved fall tradition at USU. All proceeds, including your donation, go to the Utah Agricultural Leadership Endowment at USU to help provide scholarships for future generations of Utah’s farmers, ranchers, and agribusiness people.

Arrington Mormon History Lecture: Music & The Unspoken Truth
Lecture/Readings
Join award-winning writer and historian Jared Farmer for a performative lecture including the soundtrack with live organ. Farmer's version of the Arrington Mormon History Lecture will be an homage to the "Music & the Spoken Word" radio show, and a meditation on the relationship between landscape, religion, and sound.
About the Speaker:
Jared Farmer is the Walter H. Annenberg Professor of History at the University of Pennsylvania and a former Andrew Carnegie Fellow. He is the author of four books, including On Zion's Mount: Mormons, Indians, and the American Landscape (2008), winner of the Francis Parkman Prize, and Elderflora: A Modern History of Ancient Trees (2022). Farmer's hometown is Provo, Utah and his alma mater is Utah State University.

Annular Solar Eclipse Observation
Special Event
USU's College of Science invites all ages to join in a safe observation of the Annular Solar Eclipse, outside on the USU Quad, on Saturday morning, October 14, 2023. Cache Valley will experience a partial eclipse (80 percent) , beginning at about 9:10 a.m., reaching maximum at about 10:30 a.m., and ending shortly before noon. Join Aggie Scientists, and other USU scholars, in learning about this phenomenon, and learning how to observe it safely. Rule #1: NEVER look directly at the Sun in any conditions, to avoid eye and sight damage. We will gather on the Quad and discuss how to observe the event safely (with backs to the Sun) using special pinhole postcards to be distributed on the day. We'll also talk about what the eclipse is and other related topics. Admission is free.
